iAsonu and TIME come out ahead in the IEM Shanghai Chinese qualifiers
Our 5th/6th players to IEM Shanghai secured.

Earlier today marked the end of the first qualifiers for Intel® Extreme Masters Shanghai. In the hotly contested Chinese Qualifiers it was IEM regular iAsonu and surprise second place TIME who succeeded in securing their trips to Shanghai. To compete with the very best in the world.

iAsonu is no stranger to international competitions and it comes as no surprise to see him finish in first place during the qualifiers. China’s best Zerg has been a consistent presence in WCS and IEM for more than three years. iAsonu already showed us at IEM Shanghai ‘16 and IEM Gyeonggi that he can go head to head with the best and after a convincing qualifier performance, we’re excited to find out what he has in store for us.

But the big surprise of the Chinese qualifier was waiting in the lower bracket. After dropping into the Lower Bracket right from the start, TIME had to fight his way through the likes of XiGua and XY to punch his ticket to Shanghai. The young Terran surprised everybody with his incredible performance and will now get the chance to make a name for himself on the IEM stage. Don’t sleep on this guy, he’s China’s youngest ever GrandMaster player on the Korean servers for a reason!

We are now awaiting the results of the Open Global Qualifiers which are set to conclude at the end of next week. Stay tuned for further qualifier updates in the near future and make sure to follow IEM on both Twitter and Facebook.
