The Intel® Extreme Masters Sydney champions are returning to Oakland!
SK gaming take another shot at the Oakland title after finishing second last year.

We are thrilled to announce that joining Astralis, FaZe Clan and G2 Esports at IEM Oakland will be no other than the champions from Sydney, SK Gaming! The Brazilians will travel to the Bay Area to compete for their second ever IEM trophy.

SK Gaming have been in great form in the past couple of months of rebuilding the team and their tactics. After not making it to the playoffs of IEM World Championship Katowice, the team made a huge comeback at IEM Sydney. They stormed through the group stage with wins over Vici Gaming, Astralis and North and continued to dominate in the semifinals with a very decisive 2-0 win over OpTic. In the grand final, SK faced FaZe Clan with the Brazilians taking a 3-1 victory and lifting their first ever IEM trophy. Perhaps we will see a rematch in the Oracle Arena?

This will be SK Gaming’s second appearance at IEM Oakland, as the team was also invited to last year’s event. They finished second in their group with a 3-2 score and continued to have a great run in the playoffs. With wins over G2 Esports and Astralis, they reached the grand final where they faced Ninjas in Pyjamas. SK won the first map 16-4 but in the end, it was NiP’s tournament to take and the Brazilians took second place.

Considering their recent return to the top, SK Gaming are definitely one of the favorites to lift the IEM trophy at the Oracle Arena this year. After winning IEM Sydney, the team continued their run as they claimed victory at DreamHack Summer. We are excited to see the Brazilians back on top and look forward to what they will bring to Oakland.
