This year, Intel Extreme Masters will return to South Korea and hold its first ever Asian stadium event in the province of Gyeonggi. It's been eight years since IEM last visited South Korea back in 2008 and held tournaments for World of Warcraft®, Counter-Strike 1.6 and Warcraft III, and we are excited to return to what many consider to be the home of esports.

League of Legends - Tournament Format
The Intel Extreme Masters League of Legends World Championship will begin with a group stage where the first round of matches are bo1 and the concecutive games are bo3.
The four best teams from the group stage will move on to the playoffs which will consist of best-of-three semifinals and a best-of-five grand final.
Starcraft 2 - Tournament Format
The sixteen players will be split into four groups of four. The group stage will be double elimination best of three matches. Top two players from each group (eight in total) will advance to the playoffs which will be a single elimination best of five bracket with the grand final being a best of seven.
The seeding for group stages will be based on results from this year’s WCS Global Finals as well as each player's respective WCS ranking.

Overwatch - Tournament Format
The Overwatch tournament will feature 4 Korean and 2 European teams.
The tournament will feature two bo5 quater finals Friday, two bo5 semi finals Saturday and one bo5 Grand final Sunday.
The Goyang Sports Complex is in the center of the city of Goyang, and is home to a number of sports and recreation facilities. The stadium has hosted numerous K-Pop concerts, was the setting for Psy's "Gentleman" music video, and has served as the home field for the South Korea national football team. This winter, IEM will join the star-studded line-up of events by bringing intense esports competition to the complex.
